Recreational Facilities
Parks – There are 6 City parks inside Shelby County, 3 are located in Shelbina, 2 are located in Clarence, and 1 is located in Shelbyville.

Public Lakes- There are 3 public lakes located in Shelby County. They are in Shelbina, Clarence, and Shelbyville. All 3 lakes allow people to fish however only Clarence and Shelbina allow you to hunt with special permit. There is not boating allowed other than with fishing or hunting boats. Camping is also available at Shelbina and Clarence Lakes

State Parks- There is two State Parks within an hour drive of Shelby County. Long Branch state park located in Macon and Mark Twain State Park located near Monroe City. Both parks allow fishing and waterfowl hunting along with hunting. They also both allow boating on their lakes. Camping is also available at both sites.

Movie Theatre- There is a one screen movie theatre located in Shelbina. The Hawkins Theatre is a non-profit theatre that was built by the Shelby County Arts Council. The Theatre is used for meetings as well as hosts several school and community plays. They also have a new movie every weekend. With the price only costing four dollars a person it makes it affordable for everyone to go to the movies.

Swimming Pools- There are currently three pools in Shelby County. Two of which are private and one that is currently under reconstruction. Upon opening in the summer it will be the only public pool in Shelby County. It will be located in Shelbina on the south side of town.

Churches- There are several religious organizations in Shelby County and many churches in our county. These churches do everything from putting on food pantries to benefit luncheons. They all are a vital piece of our community and are appreciated very much.

Recreational Sports- Shelby County has several recreational sport programs throughout the county. From the Lions Club baseball fields in Shelbina, and the Civic Clubs baseball fields in Clarence. There are also youth football programs at two of the three schools in our County. Throw in hunting and fishing and there is always something to take your mind off that busy work week you had.
